Hello boys and girls,
I hope you are all well. I want to say thank you and well done to all of you who sent work to me this week. I have responded to all of you and I hope you found my feedback useful.

Work for this week is as follows:
Reading  - 1st class - pages 8 - 12

Tables - Revise all addition tables

Spellings - Both classes - mess, chess, dress, unless, kiss, grass, moss, Swiss

                      - Small World - 1st class - page 90. Science - Common Irish Birds.
Draw out and write the names of the birds.
                                                             - page 91. Geography - Talk about the new words at the top of the page. Write out the words and try to draw pictures for the words(I do know this will be hard, so just do a few). For anyone that is able to print off the pages, label the picture.
SPHE - CJFallon website - 2nd class - SPHE - Mindful Matters 2 - page 21 - Feeling Safe.
                                          - talk about the pictures - what makes you feel safe/unsafe. Draw a picture of a place where you feel safe and maybe write why it makes you feel this way.
Art - Draw or paint a picture of your favourite bird OR you could let your imagination run wild and draw or paint a picture of a completely imaginary bird.

May 5th - 8th

Good morning boys and girls.
I can't believe it is May already. We should be doing our artwork for your First Communion 2nd class, this week. However, as you will know by now, we have been told that we will not be back at school before September now. This is very disappointing. I miss seeing your faces in the mornings. We will have to continue with this way of learning for the rest of the school year.
Thank you to all of you who have been in touch with me via email. It is lovely to hear from you and to see how you are getting on with your work. Please continue to stay in touch and send me pictures of your work and I will reply to you. Here is your work for the week.

Put some of these words in sentences.
SESE - Science - CJFallon website - 1st class - Small World - pg 84 - Irish Wildflowers
                                                                                                 - pg 85 - Summer
            -  Write out the flowers and draw pictures. Write out the sentences about Summer and to challenge yourself write a few sentences of your own about Summer.
Art - Draw and colour or paint a vase with some of the Irish Wildflowers in it. You could even make some of the flowers using egg cartons and pipe cleaners or straws if you want to. It all depends on what you have in your house.

PE - Get some exercise and fresh air especially when the weather is nice, its up to you what kind. Skipping, throwing and catching a ball, kicky-ups, walking, running, cycling.

Reading - 1st class - you are finished your reading book so if you have any other reading books at home you can read those or perhaps use one of your library books as a reading book,

Spellings - both classes - bubble, rabbit, attic, bottle, little, bottom, meat, only.
               - extra for 2nd class - ribbon, sobbed, better, letter, cotton, mutton, per, wild.

For those of you on a different spelling list - cane, dane, lane, mane, pane, sane, vane, wane.

Anyone wishing to do extra can put the words into sentences.

Life Cycle of the Butterfly is on page 81 of the same book. Draw out the life cycle on a page/copy.
Art - Draw and colour or paint a picture of a butterfly.

Welcome back

Good morning children. Well it's offically the end of the Easter holidays.I hope you all had a lovely Easter and didn't eat too much chocolate. We are still 'in lockdown' for at least the next 2 weeks. With that in mind, I am putting up work for you for this week. Don't worry if you can't do it all, just try your best.

If you are able to access the CJFallon website, look at Small World - 2nd class. Read pg 74 and 75 and answer the questions either orally with a parent or on a sheet of paper or spare copy if you have one.
The weather is lovely, so try to get out for some fresh air and a little exercise if you can. If you have a skipping rope, see how many skips you can do or if you have a football see how many kicky-ups you can do.

Be nice to each other, be kind to each other and help a little around the house but above all stay safe. I really miss you all and please God it wont be too much longer before I see you all again.

Tuesday 31st March

Hi everyone, I just thought I'd check in with you all again. I hope you are all doing well. I know this is a really difficult time for you all. It's hard to understand but we all need to follow the guidelines set out for us and we will get through this. 

I hope you are all being good for your parents. It's all different and strange for them too. I know from my own house that it hard to be cooped up all the time...but it is hard for mammy or daddy too. So we all have to try hard to be patient with each other.

I'm sure you have all finished the work that was sent home with you already, so I've a few things to add to it to keep you busy.

Communion booklet and learn prayers for First Confessions.

I know that some of you will be wondering about First Communion and all I can say is that I don't know what is happening yet. I'm in the same boat here myself as I have a child for First Communion and a child for Confirmation. We will just have to wait until the government say how long these restrictions will last. As soon as I know what is happening I will let you know. I will post the prayers for Communion up in a few days. For now, be nice to each other, try to get some fresh air and take very good care of yourselves. I miss you all.
